Adams Out Of GGG Fight, Facing Charlo In June

As reported earlier this week, The Contender winner Brandon Adams has backed out of a June 8th showdown with Gennady Golovkin, and has agreed to terms to face Jermall Charlo.

BoxingScene confirmed on Wednesday that Adams will challenge for Charlo’s interim WBC middleweight championship on either June 8th or 15th with the site possibly being Charlo’s hometown of Houston, Texas.

Adams rose to the opportunity by winning the rebooted reality series The Contender in late 2018, taking a unanimous decision win over Shane Mosley Jr. in November at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Per the report, Adams was given a more attractive offer from Al Haymon and PBC, than an option presented by GGG’s team and DAZN.

This will be Charlo’s first fight since the undefeated fighter took a majority decision win against last-minute opponent Matt Korobov in December.
