Following Vasyl Lomachenko’s win over Jorge Linares, Bob Arum spoke about potential next steps for the three division world champion.
One of those fights was a potential fight between Lomachenko and Gervonta Davis. Davis last week was tweeting about issues between he and promoter/mentor Floyd Mayweather, Arum essentially confirmed as much to Fight Hype on Saturday night.
“I mean…I think you should ask Floyd. Floyd called Todd [duBeof] and I think he was p***** off at Davis and he wanted to see Davis destroyed.”
Arum also discussed the growing digitalization of the sport, mainly Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing USA’s $1 billion dollar deal with Perform Group’s DAZN platfork.
“Eddie Hearn is gonna put boxing on with DAZN in the United States, 16 fights, isn’t that great?! There’s more boxing, more of these kids get work, I mean, I want everybody to put shows on. I mean it’s terrific, Arum claimed.
“It’s not a zero sum game here. I mean, Showtime has put on some great fights this year. Great! We put on great fights. Great! It only helps boxing.”
