Barboza vs. Lee Booked for UFC Atlantic City
It seems April will be filled with lightweight clashes in the main event of UFC cards.
As reported by MMA Fighting, lightweight contenders Edson Barboza and Kevin Lee are now scheduled to meet in the main event of UFC Atlantic City on April 21.
Barboza last competed in December at UFC 219, getting in little offense and losing easily to Khabib Nurmagomedov in one of the biggest one-sided fights in the promotion’s history. This loss snapped a three-fight win streak for Barboza.
Lee, meanwhile, last competed at UFC 216, facing Tony Ferguson with the interim UFC Lightweight Title on the line. Lee lost via submission late in the third round. This loss snapped Lee’s five-fight win streak.
If all is intact, this will be the third week in a row a UFC card is headlined by a big lightweight matchup. Two weeks prior, at UFC 223 on April 7, Ferguson and Nurmagomedov will meet in a lightweight title fight, while Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje collide at UFC Glendale on April 14.
