Bisping: Cormier And I Wanna Fight
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in November at MSG. And it seems the champion feels pretty confident, because his next goal following GSP is to move up to light heavyweight to fight current light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier.
On the most recent episode of Bisping’s podcast, Bisping broke down how this could be possible.
“I was working with Daniel Cormier at the weekend and all he kept talking about all weekend was, ‘Mike, I want to fight you next. I want to fight you.’ On air, off air, at the hotel, constantly. He was like, ‘Mike, I will break you within five minutes.’ I would fight Daniel Cormier because that would be a huge fight. So DC, if you’re serious, which I kind of think you are, then yeah, screw it, if only to annoy everyone in the world I will, again, fight somebody who doesn’t fight at middleweight. I used to fight at 205, Dan. I was 15-0, so be careful what you wish for.”
And while he has a prior loss at light heavyweight to Rashad Evans at UFC 78, Bisping’s confidence has carried him this far.
While no challenger is set in stone for Cormier who just regained the title from Jones following a failed drug test at UFC 214 when Jones beat Cormier, it may be a while till/if Bisping gets a fight with Cormier.
