Canelo Can’t Be Friendly With GGG
Canelo Alvarez feels that after all that’s transpired after his 2017 fight with Gennady Golovkin, there is no way they can ever have a cordial relationship.
“For me, it’s very difficult personally, especially for all the things that’s been said, all the offensive claims that have been made about me,” Alvarez said regarding the comments made by Golovkin and his team regarding the Mexican boxer’s failing two pre-fight tests for clenbuterol prior to their cancelled May 5th rematch.
Golovkin has been on the offensive against Alvarez since negotiations for a rematch began earlier this year and has been very vocal in his opinions of Alvarez. And while Golovkin called Alvarez a “terrorist” for testing positive for clenbuterol, he is open to have a respectful relationship after the two have their rematch on September 15th.
“Why not,” Golovkin said Sunday. “If he comes back for real life, absolutely. If it’s fake, it’s impossible, not for him, for me, because I can’t. This is life. I believe maybe, maybe not [in a] couple months, maybe couple years we’re going to a big convention, big boxing convention, together. Why not? Nobody knows.”
