Co-Main Event Finalized For UFC Winnipeg
Following Jose Aldo stepping in to main event UFC 219 against Max Holloway, Josh Emmett has stepped in to face Ricardo Lamas on December 16th in Winnipeg.
Emmett sent Felipe Arantes four times in a single round in his victory over Arantes at UFC Gdansk in October.
UFC also has set unbeaten UK flyweight Pietro Menga to replace Justin Scoggins in his bout against former title contender and TUF winner Tim Elliott.
Menga had given up hope of getting a flyweight contract with the promotion and had decided to tryout for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter at featherweight to get his foot in the door. The Manchester native has been out of action for over a year since he scored a highlight reel knockout over Spencer Hewitt at Bellator 158.
Darren Stewart, has been tapped to come in on short notice to replace Vitor Miranda in his clash with DWTNCS standout Julian Marquez.
Middleweight Stewart has yet to taste victory in the Octagon since being signed as an unbeaten prospect. He lost his rematch to Brazilian Francimar Barroso after their first meeting was ruled a no-contest. Karl Roberson submitted the Brit in his third outing last month at UFC Norfolk last month.
Nordine Taleb and Danny Roberts are also set to face off after both of their original opponents, Sultan Aliev and Sheldon Westcott, were forced off the card. Roberts got back in the win column at UFC Glasgow with a knockout over Bobby Nash in July after Mike Perry handed him his first promotional loss at UFC 204.
Taleb also got back to winning ways with a decision victory over Swedish prospect Oliver Enkemp in May. His only other appearance this year resulted in a decision loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night 105.
