This would pit the least popular fighter in the country of Brazil, Covington, who in the lead up and following his most recent fight against Demian Maia, called the nation a “dump” and its citizens “filthy animals,” against a native son in dos Anjos.
dos Anjos is a former UFC lightweight title holder and is in the midst of a three fight winning streak since jumping from lightweight to Welterweight. Covington is on a five fight win streak with his biggest win being against Maia in 2017 in Sao Paulo.
If official, this will join a UFC 224 card that will have Amanda Nunes defending her bantamweight championship against Raquel Pennington, with either this fight or the Covington or dos Anjos fight in the top spot.
