Crawford To Make Mandatory Defense Against Lipinets
This past Saturday night, Terence Crawford achieved his long standing goal of unifying all of four titles in the 140 pound weight class. He accomplished this impressive feat by beating Julius Indongo inside of three rounds. And now he is being told he will have to prepare for his next defense of his newly won IBF crown.
The IBF has ordered Crawford to make a mandatory defense against Sergey Lipinets. Tom Brown, the promoter of Sergey Lipinets, asked to forego the negotiating period and go to an immediate purse bid.
This announcement, as well as all three other sanctioning bodies having mandatory challengers lining up for Crawford, who knows if he will be able to hold on to all four of his belts, not even the last man to hold all four major championships (Heavyweight Tyson Fury in 2015), as able to accomplish that.
Crawford is also desired at 147 pounds by Top Rank, who reportedly would like to match him with the Horn-Pacquiao rematch winner in 2018.
