Cunningham: Davis Would Beat Ryan Garcia In 2 Rounds

Super featherweight prospect Ryan Garcia had been calling out current WBA champion Gervonta Davis for a fight, but Davis’ trainer Kevin Cunningham thinks Garcia should not talk about his fighter after Garcia’s most recent fight.

Cunningham spoke with Boxing Scene to talk about Garcia’s recent comments saying that he’s not afraid to fight Davis. Cunningham said not only should Garcia stop talking about the WBA champion, but if the two were to fight, then Davis would take care of Garcia in relatively quick fashion.

“This kid should never ever mention Gervonta Davis name again,” Cunningham said.

While Davis is coming off a TKO win over former world champion Jesus Cuellar to win the WBA super featherweight title back in April, Garcia just got a unanimous decision win over Jayson Velez in the main event of a Golden Boy Boxing event on ESPN2 on May 4. Despite Garcia being a highly-touted prospect, Cunningham looked at Garcia and said the Golden Boy Promotions prospect should focus more on improving and developing his skills.

“Ryan Garcia wouldn’t make it out of the second round with Tank. The kid needs to stop running his mouth and focus on learning his craft. There’s levels to this sh*t!”
