Cyborg Calls Out WWE’s Becky Lynch

Cris Cyborg finally got the UFC gold she wanted, when she defeated Tonya Evinger at UFC 214 to win the vacant UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship. Later on, like how Jon Jones called out Brock Lesnar, Cyborg called out another WWE superstar, and said she’d go to their turf.

Following her title win, Cyborg posted a photo to Twitter where she posed with all three of her championship titles from Strikeforce, Invicta and the UFC.

She posted the same photo not long after, but instead of thanking the fans or any trainers or colleagues, she issued a challenge to WWE superstar Becky Lynch. Cyborg challenged Lynch to a match at the WWE’s Summerslam pay-per-view event in August.

Debuting on the WWE’s main roster in 2015, Lynch took the women’s division by storm and became one of the WWE’s most popular female wrestlers. Following the promotion’s 2016 brand split, where TV shows Raw and Smackdown Live became what could be called “separate entities,” Lynch became Smackdown’s first women’s champion.

Lynch is the girlfriend of UFC bantamweight Luke Sanders.

Cyborg’s challenge quickly got an answer from Lynch, and Cyborg even retweeted the video response.

Held annually in August since 1988, SummerSlam is the WWE’s second biggest pay-per-view of the year.
