Ferguson & Khabib Exchange Barbs In Media

Even though he is not the interim lightweight champion, Kevin Lee was more than happy to throw shade at the number one contender for the throne, Khabib Nurmagomedov as he prepares for UFC 226.

At a press scrum for UFC 222, Lee, who lost to the interim, and possible undisputed lightweight champion Tony Ferguson at UFC 218 believes that the undefeated Nurmagomedov is beatable and looked terrible in his last fight against Edson Barboza.

“I wasn’t too impressed with Khabib,” said Lee. “I’m gonna do ten times the work on Edson. . . Khabib looked terrible in that fight. He was just barreling straight forward like a tank.”

Lee is set to face Barbosa at UFC Atlantic City, and believes he will fair better than Khabib.

When asked about Lee’s comments, Nurmagomedov claimed that Lee lacked “heart” in his fight against Tony Ferguson in Detroit.

“He wants to be tough but he has very small heart,” said Nurmagomedov.

“Very small heart. When he fought with Tony Ferguson, between second and third round, you guys can watch his face and understand everything. Face never lie. His eyes – when Tony Ferguson talks about, ‘This is my night!’ his face agrees with this.”
