Ferguson Talks UFC 216, Calls Out McGregor

On Thursday, ahead of the anticipated showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, the UFC held a media day for its upcoming UFC 215 and UFC 216 pay-per-view events.

Tony Ferguson talked about his bout at UFC 216 — an interim lightweight championship bout with Kevin Lee. Ferguson, who is currently riding a nine-fight win streak, put his name known in the title picture with a unanimous decision win over former champion Rafael dos Anjos back on Nov. 5, 2016, in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 3 Finale.

Ferguson was scheduled to compete for the interim title back at UFC 209 in March against Khabib Nurmagomedov. But Nurmagomedov was pulled from the card after falling ill and being hospitalized due to a bad weight cut.

During his media scrum, Ferguson talked about the UFC 216 interim title fight. He also called out undisputed champion Conor McGregor, telling McGregor that after McGregor’s boxing bout that he can either face him or vacate the UFC title.

UFC 216 takes place on Oct. 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
