Gastelum-Adesanya Set For UFC 236

Kelvin Gastelum will get his chance to become middleweight champion, but first he’ll have to go through Israel Adesanya.

Initially reported by ESPN, the two middleweight stars will clash for the interim middleweight crown on April 13th at UFC 236, as Robert Whittaker recovers from an abdominal hernia suffered the day before UFC 234 on February 9th.

Gastelum was originally scheduled to fight Whittaker for the title at UFC 234, but would be forced off the card due to Whittaker needing emergency surgery.

Across the Octagon is an undefeated Adesanya, who would replace Gastelum and Whittaker in the main event against Anderon Silva, adding to his 5-0 streak since joining the UFC in 2018.
