Gervonta Davis Challenges Adrien Broner
One of Floyd Mayweather’s top proteges has apparently fallen out with Mayweather’s on-and-off friend Adrien Broner. Taking to social media this week, IBF junior lightweight champion Gervonta Davis called for a fight with Broner to settle an apparent conflict.
Davis was first in the news this week for clashing with Tevin Farmer over the weekend, nearly coming to blows. Then Davis raised a lot of eyebrows with an Instagram post calling out Broner, with a Photoshopped poster of the two for a hypothetical junior-welterweight fight between the two. At the end of the caption he tagged Mayweather, telling his promoter to set the fight up.
Shortly after Davis’s post, Adrien Broner responded with a profanity-laced tirade aimed at Davis (who he refers to by his nickname "Tank") and at Mayweather himself. Warning: the rant contains extreme, harsh language:
It is unknown what started the clash between Broner and the Mayweather team, specifically Davis, as Broner was friendly with Mayweather as recently as the end of 2016.
