Gomez: Canelo Looking to Fight at MSG in December

At this morning’s “Business of Boxing” event in New York City, Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez tells FIGHT SPORTS that with a win over Gennady Golovkin, Canelo Alvarez is planned to fight at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 15.

Gomez says the building has been reserved for the Mexican former light middleweight and middleweight champion.

“We’ve reserved MSG on December 15th for Canelo,” Gomez tells FIGHT SPORTS.

The possible opponents for Canelo at Madison Square Garden include Gary O’Sullivan, David Lemieux, or the winner of the upcoming WBO Title fight between Billy Joe Saunders and Demetrius Andrade.

Alvarez fights Golovkin for the WBA and WBC Middleweight Titles on Sept. 15.
