Grand Prix First Round Ends At Bellator 199

The first round of the Heavyweight Grand Prix comes to a close on May 12th, as Bellator Light Heavyweight champion Ryan Bader faces off with “King Mo” in the main event of Bellator 199.

Bader, who has held the light heavyweight title since defeating Phil Davis at Bellator 180, looks to become a two division champion, while King Mo looks to use his wrestling background to stymie the Nevada born striker.

While Bader has never went to the scorecards and lost, Lawal has the ability to go the distance, and while it is his first fight at heavyweight, he’s come in lighter than Bader, possibly anticipating going all three rounds.

Another major fight on the card is Ryan Bader taking on the debuting Jon Fitch. The two former UFC stars square off in a fight that Daley believes is made to “humble” him, after expressing frustration with his contract.

An aggressive Daley is a dangerous one, as the English fighter has finished 32 of his 40 wins, with 30 coming ny way of knockout. And While Fitch has gone 6-2 since departing the UFC for the now Professional Fighters League, he’s been known to take a lot of lumps while looking to go for a submission finish.
