Grisham: Meksen & Van Soest Are Best In The World

This Friday night, GLORY Kickboxing returns to the theater at Madison Square Garden, for Glory 48 and Glory 48 Super Fight Series.

The event will be headlined by two of the top women in the sport, as the prolific French fighter, Anissa Meksen looks to steal the crown from bantamweight champion Tiffany Van Soest.

Meksen enters the ring for only the third time under the GLORY banner, but will walk into her 97th career fight.

When speaking exclusively with FIGHT SPORTS, the voice of GLORY Kickboxing, Todd Grisham, spoke highly of both fighters…

“I think people will look back on it, at least kickboxing fans years from now and be like “we didn’t know what we were actually getting.”

“…I feel like the two best kickboxers of all time are facing off.”

Grisham also says that even though the women’s bantamweight title is a year old, he claims that women’s kickboxing is flourishing and that the current standard bearer is the “best striker in the world.”

In Grisham’s mind, if Meksen is going to win, she will need a similar strategy to Rico Verhoeven who fights eight days following Glory 48 at GLORY Redemption.

“At a very smaller level, I think she needs to fight the way Rico should fight against Jamal (Ben-Saddik). Tiffany doesn’t have as much power, obviously but Tiffany loves to do damage, get in there and exchange… she’s a nasty, nasty puncher and loves to mix it up.”

“If Meksen can sick and move, and stay on the outside and avoid being bated into those exchanges. I think that’s her path to victory.”
