GSP Puts on Size Ahead of Bisping Fight
Georges St. Pierre will not only be returning to the UFC after a three-year layoff, he’ll be doing it in a weight class he’s never competed in. The former welterweight champ is set to face Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title sometime later this year.
Of the many challenges GSP faces in his return to the cage, the most substantial will be the size advantage that Bisping will have over him. To combat the disparity in size, St. Pierre has been using the past few months to bulk up as much as possible.
The Canadian star showed off his new physique in a photo shoot for his sponsor Hyabusa, and then discussed his preparation for the Bisping fight.
“I have always been the same weight. When I knew that we were going to fight Michael Bisping, when I signed the contract, that’s when I decided to put on a little more weight,” St-Pierre said. “I won’t be able to put a lot, because I’m a natural guy. But I’m already a little bit bigger than I was.
“I’m the biggest I’ve ever been right now in my life. Bisping will still be bigger than me, but I’m confident that this will help.”
