Hatton: Khan-Brook Fight Is A Toss Up
Ricky Hatton, when put in the unenviable position of being asked who would win between Amir Khan and Kell Brook, finds it hard to make a choice.
Not only because he is close friends with both fighters, but also because as he told Sky Sports this week, “they’re at similar positions in their career.”
“It’s one of those exciting fights, it’s like a 50-50 one, you toss a coin because they’re both that similar and are at similar stages of their career.”
And while Hatton would have liked to see it a few years ago, Brook feels the time is right for the two rivals to clash.
Khan returns to the ring in April, not against Brook, but against Phil Lo Greco. But following Khan’s loss to Canelo Alvarez in his last fight nearly two years ago, Hatton believes it will be a tough road for the Bolton boxer to be back at his peak.
“I hope Khan can return to the top. Amir is my friend. When I got knocked out by Manny Pacquiao that was a horrendous knockout,” the former two-weight world champion said.
“But when I look at Amir, he’s had three bad knockouts and sometimes you worry can you come back from three of them. It’s hard enough to come back from one horrendous knockout but he’s had three.”
