Haye’s Ex-Trainer Claims He Should Retire

David Haye’s former trainer believes that Haye should not have taken the rematch against Tony Bellew, and that he “paid the price” for it.

Adam Booth, who had a very public split with Haye, believes he should have never returned to the ring after being away from the ring for nearly four years.

“In my opinion, he should have never been in there anyway and he shouldn’t even have been in there last year, but he was,” Booth told SKY Sports following Haye’s fifth round TKO lose to Bellew.

Booth gave a harsh criticism to his old charge, claiming he should not have tried to trade with a powerful puncher like Bellew.

“I don’t know how he is physically, but technically he made some big mistakes and let Tony trade with him,” Booth said.

“You don’t hook with a hooker, if you’re not a hooker, and David is a jab and straight right-hand puncher.
