Hearn Expects A Vocal Joshua At Press Conference

Following verbal and social media attacks from Joseph Parker and his team, Eddie Hearn expects to see a different side of Anthony Joshua at the first press conference to announce a heavyweight unification showdown.

Parker, and his promoter David Higgins’s attacks began in late 2017, with a press conference in New Zealand to present evidence that Joshua has a “glass jaw.”

That claim was followed by Parker’s head trainer Kevin Barry calling Joshua the most “overhyped fighter in the world.”

Joshua has been far from happy with the comments from the Parker team, and Hearn believes that Joshua will be loaded with venom at the press conference.

“I was bantering with David Higgins yesterday. They truly believe they knock Anthony Joshua out. It’s not even in question for them,” Hearn told Sky Sports News.

“We feel otherwise. You’re going to see a lot of fireworks this press conference. David Higgins has got a lot to say for himself, he’s a funny character, and Anthony Joshua doesn’t like what Joseph Parker has been saying. This could be the first time we’ve seen the switch of Anthony Joshua, and I’m excited to see it.”

“AJ wants all the belts and Parker is the perfect fight, the perfect time. It’s a great fight between two undefeated world heavyweight champions and we’re close now.”

The fight is being planned for March 31st, at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Joshua fought at the venue back in October, when he retained the IBF, WBA, IBO world titles by stopping Carlos Takam in the tenth round.

Parker last fought in September, when he traveled to Manchester to retain his WBO world title in a maligned fight with mandatory challenger Hughie Fury.
