Herb Dean Out Of UFC 232 With Injury

In an already chaotic week, one of MMA’s best referees has been sidelined for December 29th’s UFC 232 event.

Herb Dean was set to be the official for the UFC 232 main event between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson due to injury.

As initially reported by MMA Fighting on Wednesday, California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster has announced Mike Beltran as Dean’s replacement for the light heavyweight title fight.

Foster is also attempting to keep the initial judges and referees approved by the Nevada Athletic Commission, where UFC 232 was initially set to take place.

The official for the other title fight, Marc Goddard will remain for Cris Cyborg’s defense of her UFC featherweight title against Amanda Nunes.

The scheduled judges for Jones and Gustafsson are Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato, and Junichiro Kamijo, with Chris Lee, Dave Hagen, and Mike Bell holding scorecards for Cyborg and Nunes.
