Horn-Crawford Re-Scheduled For June 9th
After suffering a hand injury, delaying his welterweight debut, Terence Crawford and Jeff Horn are now set for June 9th in Las Vegas.
Crawford will challenge for the WBO welterweight crown, which Horn won in July of 2017, with Horn looking to make a splash in the United States by beating the undefeated Crawford in the second defense of his crown..
“Bud”is making the move from junior welterweight to welterweight, after becoming the undisputed champion of the division in August of last year. With his stoppage victory of Julius Indongo, he became the first man to unify all four major junior welterweight belts.
“Jeff Horn and his team better be ready because they are going to see a bigger, stronger, and more powerful Terence Crawford. I am going home with that belt,” said Crawford in a media release sent on Thursday.
Crawford’s trainer Brian McIntyre added: “We are excited to be fighting at MGM Grand and attempting to win another world title in a higher weight class, the welterweight division, which is stacked with talent.
In the release, Horn claimed that “defending the world title successfully a second time is a must.
“Crawford is a very talented fighter and deserves his accolades. I will be on a mission to prove the doubters wrong.
“Obviously, I am a very competitive guy who works really hard to achieve his goals. Crawford is a brilliant boxer, but I am coming to win, and I will win. Crawford’s trash talk has only inspired me that much more to shock the world once again.”
