Ingle Hopes Manny Faces Mayweather To Spite Khan
Kell Brook’s trainer Dominic Ingle wants to see Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have their rematch, not for any other reason than to spite Amir Khan.
Ingle views Pacquiao as the only opponent who can draw Khan away from a fight with Brook, which both fighter has publicly called to happen for several years.
While Khan feels that Brook has been ducking him, Ingle believes its Khan who is looking to hide from the fellow British boxer. And if Mayweather makes the fight with Pacquiao, Khan and Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn would need to make their fight happen.
“Well, listen, I’m sure there’s always a way he can wiggle out of it,” Ingle told IFL TV. “But I hope that fight does happen between Pacquiao and Mayweather, because it completely freezes Khan out and I can’t see Khan fighting anybody else in that [welterweight] division – Spence or Porter, because they’ll just run straight through him. So, he’s being cornered, hopefully, and he’ll actually man up and fight Kell Brook.”
“He’s always looking to worm his way out, isn’t he? That’s what Khan is. He keeps telling everybody how easy it’ll be for him to beat Kell Brook. But if it’s that easy, why doesn’t he take the fight? Obviously, he doesn’t want that fight. Only time will tell. And if you close all the options off to him, then he’ll have to fight Kell.”
Pacquiao was called out by Khan following his unanimous decision win over Samuel Vargas on September 8th, but with Mayweather and Pacquiao confirming they’re looking to set up a rematch, Khan will have to look at other options.
