Injury Forces Oezdemir Out of UFC 227
Volkan Oezdemir has been knocked off of a card for the third time in two months, as an injury will sideline the light heavyweight fighter, per a tweet from ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.
Breaking: Volkan Oezdemir is out of UFC 227 due to injury. He was scheduled to face Alexander Gustafsson on Aug. 4. UFC currently seeking a replacement for Gustafsson but no guarantee he’ll remain on the card. More coming to ESPN shortly.

This means Oezdemir will not be competing at UFC 227, where he was scheduled to face a fellow top-ranked contender in Alexander Gustafsson. According to Helwani, a replacement opponent is being sought for Gustafsson but is not guaranteed.
Visa issues prevented Oezdemir from competing at a May UFC event in Chile, as well as the upcoming Fight Night card this weekend in Germany.
