Joshua & Klitschko Guaranteed $13 Million
Tomorrow night’s heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko is considered the biggest British fight in history, and the purses for both fighters reflect the magnitude of the event.
The two heavyweights will split the £20 million purse 50/50, according to a report by the Daily Mirror. That amounts to roughly $13 million U.S. for each fighter.
Joshua has risen to superstardom in just 18 professional fights, and will make substantially more money from his number of high-profile sponsors, including Under Armour, Beats by Dre and Jaguar.
Joshua is believed to have earned roughly a $2.6 million purse for his last fight, a December knockout over Eric Molina.
Unless Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor do end up stepping into the ring together in 2017, Joshua vs. Klitschko will likely be the richest fight in all of combat sports for 2017.
