Joshua Return Likely for November
IBF, WBA, IBO world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua looks set to fight again in November, with both Dubai and Doha being considered as possible venues, according to the fighter’s promoter.
Joshua scored a stunning 11th round knockout win against former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley last month before a crowd of 90,000 fans, and it now looking towards his next bout.
Speaking to media members, the fighter’s promoter Eddie Hearn said is "most likely" to fight again in November, with a number of venues being considered.
While Cardiff appears to be the most likely venue, Hearn said other locations like Dubai and Doha are being considered.
"We are looking at potential dates and venues for Anthony Joshua’s next fight – Cardiff, Las Vegas, China and Dubai are all in play," Hearn said to Sky Sports. "November is the most likely month for a return but it’s early days all round."
“I am looking at options now for the rematch while we wait on Klitschko because you have to have an idea on dates and possibilities. We are talking to China, we are talking to Dubai and Qatar, we are talking to America and the Principality Stadium (Cardiff).
“Wladimir might say, ‘What’s the money?’ and obviously if there is huge money from another country he is going to want the rematch more.
“It would have to be an incredible deal to go to another country. We should know where we are going by the end of June.”
Joshua is waiting as to whether Klitschko will exercise his contractual right to rematch, or face IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.
