Kamegai Added To Linares-Gesta Undercard
Following his performance against Miguel Cotto in August, 2017, Yoshihiro Kamegai take on Daquan Pauldo in a 10-round super welterweight fight on January 27th.
Kamegai and Pauldo will headline the non-televised undercard of the January 27th event from the Forum in Inglewood, California. The event is headlined by Lucas Matthysse taking on Tewa Kiram for the vacant WBA Welterweight title, and Jorge Linares defending the WBA, WBC Diamond, and Ring Magazine Lightweight Titles against Mercito Gesta.
Kamegai will return after his impressive outing against Miguel Cotto, in a WBO Junior Middleweight World Title main event in August 2017 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Before that fight, Kamegai will look to earn another shot at a 154-pound title if successful against Pauldo.
Pauldo, a 25-year-old super welterweight contender who was formerly known as Daquan Arnett, has only suffered one loss, when he dropped down to 147 pounds to take on tough Golden Boy Promotions contender Eddie Gomez. After returning to 154 pounds, Pauldo is on a five fight winning streak including Jorge Silva in his last bout in July 2017. A win against Kamegai would give Pauldo would boost in the super welterweight rankings, potentially into title contention.
