Kevin Lee Makes Weight For Title Fight
Following UFC 215 losing its main event on fight week due to illness, the leading combat sports almost lost its main event for tomorrow night in Las Vegas.
For all of the build-up and questions surrounding Ray Borg and whether or not this would be the time he makes weight for tomorrow night’s flyweight fight with Demetrious Johnson. It is in fact Kevin Lee who almost missed weight costing him not only a title opportunity Saturday night in Las Vegas, but also a potential fight with lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.
During the official weigh-ins earlier today in Las Vegas, Lee arrived with five minutes to spare to weigh-in for the main event of UFC 216. And after cutting 18 pounds in 24 hours, Lee was one pound away from making the limit for the lightweight division.
NSAC Executive Director Bob Bennett allowed Lee one hour at 11am Pacific time to lose that one pound and be re-weighed by the athletic commission, which occurred at 12:15 pm and Lee walked in wearing only a towel. Lee not only cut that extra pound, but he also came in at 154.5 pounds, one half pound under the 115 limit.
Here are the results for the official weigh-in as the un-official weigh in will begin at 8:00 pm eastern.
