Following his fourth round submission victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 229, and the ensuing riot, Khabib Nurmagomedov and his father Abdulmanap, would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
“I will ask your father not to punish you too strictly, because you achieved the main task, worthily and convincingly,” said Putin to Khabib in regards to Nurmagomedov’s post-fight brawl with members of McGregor’s team.
“My father teach me, you have to be always respectful,” said Nurmagomedov at the post-fight press conference. “I know my father is going to smash me when I go home.”
Abdulmanap would confirm to Putin that punishment is coming for his son putting “civilians” in danger.
“I will impose a punishment tougher than the UFC’s,” said Abdulmanap. “I warned him. For me, discipline comes first. You do whatever you want in the Octagon, [but] outside — this is the border of civilians, where there are children, women, strangers.”
