Kovalev Wants Jack If He Beats Stevenson
Following his victory on March 3rd against Igor Mikhalkin, the WBO light heavyweight champion, Sergey Kovalev is setting his sights on unification.
After a doctor stopped the fight due to a cut over Mikhalkin’s eye, Kovalev complemented his opponent, on a great fight, but is looking forward to a “big money fight.”
“I’m always ready for a big money fight … I read on the internet that the Badou Jack fight would be a big fight – if he beats (Adonis) Stevenson.”
Jack faces Stevenson in Montreal, Quebec on May 19th, for Stevenson’s WBC title, and if he wins there may be a collision course between the Canadian and the Russian.
Kovalev, who told FIGHT SPORTS this week that he is no longer thinking about Andre Ward, said after the fight that he only wants to leave Ward in the past and “fight the fights that the fans want to see. For you, for myself, because I love boxing.”
