Lemieux Off Canelo-Rocky Card
The possibility of David Lemieux facing Canelo Alvarez on May 4th may have been halted on Friday, as the former world champion was hospitalized with severe dehydration.
Leamieux would be taken to the hospital on Friday morning and will no longer face off against Tureano Johnson in what was to be the co-main event of Canelo Alvarez and Rocky Fielding’s super middleweight fight inside Madison Square Garden.
The Tevin Farmer-Francisco Fonseca fight will now be moved into the co-main event as Farmer will defend his IBF junior lightweight title tomorrow night in his second defense.
With a win, Lemieux would have been near the top of the list for Canelo Alvarez’ May 4th return to Las Vegas, especially with the way Lemieux dropped Gary O’Sullivan on the Canelo-GGG II undercard, stopping O’Sullivan’s chances of being a future opponent of Alvarez.
