Loeffler Claims GGG Will Box On May 5th No Matter What
While there is doubt about Canelo Alvarez’ attendance for their May 5th scheduled rematch, Tom Loeffler said there is no need to worry about Golovkin’s status for fight night.
Alvarez, who was hit with a suspension late last week for failing two drug tests for clenbuterol, will have his fate decided by the Nevada state athletic commission next month. According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael, Golovkin will be fighting on May 5th no matter who is opponent is.
Promoter @TomLoeffler1 to me the other day: “Whatever the commission does, Gennady would still fight May 5 if Canelo is out. If for some reason it’s not against Canelo, we’ll figure out the best course of action at that time, but he is training to fight May 5.” #boxing

The question would be who will be the opponent for Golovkin if the worst case scenario would occur with Sanchez, as Billy Joe Saunders has dispelled that he would want to be anyone’s “Plan B.”
