Despite Rigondeaux being a champion at 122 lbs. while Lomachenko currently holds titles at 130 lbs., a fight between the two has been discussed for years. Rigondeaux is also considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet. He and Lomachenko are two of the most accomplished amateur boxers of all time, their combined amateur record a jaw-dropping 859-13.
Though the fight has yet to be finalized, it is looking like a foregone conclusion that one of the most intriguing matchups in boxing will be inked for 2017. If the fight is signed, it will be contested at 130 lbs. for Lomachenko’s WBO title.
