MacDonald Headlines Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix

At Tuesday’s launch press conference for their digital partner DAZN, Bellator MMA has announced the first competitors in their Welterweight Grand-Prix.

Joining the tournament is the current champion Rory MacDonald, former champions Douglas Lima, Andrey Korenshkov, as well as undefeated fighters Michael Page, Neiman Gracie, and Ed Ruth.

A trilogy bout between rivals Lima and Koreshkov will kickoff the tournament at Bellator 205 on Sept. 29 at the SAP Center in San Jose. Koreshkov defeated Lima by unanimous decision to win the welterweight card, with Lima retaining the title by knocking Koreshkov out in the rematch in November 2016.

Bellator 205 will feature MacDonald battling Gegard Mousasi for the middleweight title in the co-main event of the card.

The Sept. 29 show will mark Bellator’s first show on the DAZN platform. A U.S. subscription for DAZN will cost $9.99 a month.
