Matthysse’s Manager: He Will Retire Pacquiao

Days away from his fighter’s defense of the WBA regular welterweight title, Lucas Matthysse’s manager is confident that Matthysse will retire Manny Pacquiao.

“As I told you during the press conference two months ago, this fight’s gonna be a war,” Mario Acano told The Manila Times for a story published Wednesday. “It will. We prepared Lucas to make war. He’s ready to retire Pacquiao, as he promised.”

This is Matthysse’s first defense of the WBA crown he won by knocking out Tewa Kiram in January, and Acano claims his fighter is looking to keep the trend against Pacquiao.

“Lucas is ready,” Acano said. “He prepared hard for this fight and [we’re] confident he’s still the champion when we get back to Argentina.”
