McGregor, Ferguson with GTA style Tweets
After Tony Ferguson submitted Kevin Lee to become the interim UFC Lightweight Champion at UFC 216, he proceeded to call out incumbent champion Conor McGregor. McGregor has not competed in the Octagon since winning the title at UFC 205 last November, going on to pursue a boxing fight with Floyd Mayweather.
Many anticipated and waited for McGregor to respond via social media, but for the longest time, no word from The Notorious. That changed on Friday, however, when McGregor posted a subliminal tweet, directed at Ferguson. The tweet was an image, in the style of the Grand Theft Auto video game series, of McGregor in a car with title belts and bags of cash, simply captioned “Tony.”

It didn’t take long for Ferguson to respond to the champion in similar fashion. (warning: expletive language)
Despite rumors that a trilogy bout between McGregor and Nate Diaz could happen, many in the MMA community expect, and hope, that McGregor’s next MMA bout will be a title unification bout with Ferguson.
Nothing is official yet, however, as McGregor has yet to officially announce his next move.
