McGregor Feuds Online With NBA Star
Conor McGregor is the master of trash talk, and that includes subtle digs at his opponent that may even come in the form of his wardrobe decisions.
His latest dig at Floyd Mayweather, who he fights on August 26 in a boxing match, was the seemingly simple move of donning a throwback Golden State Warriors jersey.
The number on the jersey in the photo is 23, which currently belongs to active player Draymond Green who has won two championships with the Warriors. Green took to Instagram with a screengrab of McGregor wearing the jersey, adding a caption that made it clear that the Irishman did not have his support in the upcoming contest.
“We rocking with Floyd bro not you… take that off bruh,” Green said.
Green, though, was not looking at what he thought he was: McGregor wasn’t wearing his jersey, but that of former NBA player CJ Watson, who previously wore the number. While McGregor, who has admitted to knowing little about other American sports, doesn’t seem like the type to don such an obscure jersey, it has a purpose: Watson had an alleged relationship with Mayweather’s ex-girlfriend, and texts between she and Watson led to a domestic violence incident for which Mayweather went to jail.
McGregor responded to Green in the comment section of the post, saying first “That’s C.J. Watson, mate. I don’t know who the f*ck you are. No disrespect tho kid, keep hustling and stay in school.”
“Now ask yourself why I’m rocking C.J. when I don’t give a f*ck about basketball. I dribble head off the floor. Not a ball. This is no game here, kid.”
