McGregor-Silva Open For Superfight

While Georges St. Pierre may not want to fight Conor McGregor, McGregor claimed that a fight with Anderson Silva is on his bucket list, and the same can be said for “The Spider.”

“I would be interested in an Anderson Silva bout,” McGregor told ESPN.com. “I swear to God. Anderson is a legend in the game. What’s the difference between him and Georges (St-Pierre)? Same damn thing. I’m going to do fights that interest me or have meaning.”

Silva is set to return in November after a USADA suspension and posted on Instagram that it would be an “honor” to fight the former middleweight champion.

“It would be a great honor to test myself for “fighting” with Conor McGregor. He is an eclectic fighter and has already proven that he has to be respected. Let’s make this happen! The UFC wants super fights, I’m sure fans from all 4 corners of the world want to see this fight.
I professionally believe it would be awesome to test my martial skills with a fighter like Conor McGregor a real super fight! Now he is focused on his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, after this fight I am ready for this challenge! When and wherever he wants.”

Silva has not been in the Octagon since UFC 208 in February 2017, when he took a unanimous decision win over Derek Brunson, and was set to face Kelvin Gastelum in November of last year but was pulled following a failed drug test. Later it would be revealed that Silva had unknowingly took a tainted supplement but would still be suspended one year for the violation.
