NBC/FOX Interested In UFC TV Rights

Even though ESPN has wrapped up the UFC’s digital streaming rights with a new contract starting in 2019, the company’s television package is still in play.

Per a report from Bloomberg Magazine, “The UFC is free to negotiate with other partners for the rest of its live rights. Those include 12 pay-per-view events, 12 pay-per-view prelim events (being offered separately in this round of talks) and about 15 other events per year, according to Chief Operating Officer Lawrence Epstein.”

With that being said, the UFC would be adding or maintaining the same amount of programming as it has under its deal with Fox.

According to stats from Bloody Elbow, 2017 saw the UFC stage 39 shows, plus 41 apiece in 2016 and 2015. The UFC has yet to surpass their record of most events in a year, with 46 being the number for their 2014 slate.
