Ngannou Taking Time Off After UFC 220 Loss

Francis Ngannou had championship gold in his sights last week, as he stepped into the UFC Octagon as the challenger for the heavyweight title in the UFC 220 main event.

But the end result had inexperience get the best of Ngannou, who lost to Stipe Miocic via unanimous decision as Miocic became the first UFC heavyweight to retain his title three consecutive times. The loss was the first Ngannou suffered in the UFC since coming to the promotion at the end of 2015.

Ngannou posted a message via Instagram, announcing he’ll be taking a step back from fighting before coming back to try and get another crack at the title.
