Ortiz Return Possible On Wilder-Fury Card
Earlier this week, Dereck Chisora was seen as the frontrunner to fight Dillian Whyte in the latter’s return on December 22nd, leaving Luis Ortiz on the outside looking in.
While Ortiz publicly campaigned for a showdown with Whyte on the Wilder-Fury undercard, or even would travel to the United Kingdom to fight Whyte in his own backyard.
Speaking with Ortiz’ manager Jay Jimenez would confirm that Whyte won’t be next for the heavy hitting Ortiz, but did claim to Boxing Scene that a U.K. return is possible in the near future.
“Eddie and I are working on maybe doing a big money three fight deal for Luis Ortiz so it looks likely to happen soon. Eddie could make Luis a big star in the UK,” Jimenez told BoxingScene.com.
Jimenez also believes that a more imminent return can come on the December 1st Wilder-Fury card at Staples Center, if not a major fight can be signed soon.
“At the end I think (Al) Haymon and Luis Decubas Jr. will give the best choice for Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz so I’ll wait on them. So far they have been great and have delivered the best fights,” said Jimenez.
