Pacquiao Insists Matthysse Fight Is On
Following rumors that his return to the ring may not happen, Manny Pacquiao reiterated that his July 15th fight is still on.
“Nothing can stop that,” claimed Pacquiao, after rumors his MP Promotions company was upwards of $2 million in-debt came out this week.
Pacquiao shrugged off rumors of that and mentions that MP Promotions missed deadlines in paying Matthysse’s purse for the fight in Kuala Lumpur.
“As long as I can provide jobs to those who work for MP Promotions and give decent and appropriate pay to boxers fighting in the undercard, I will be very happy,” he said through his information officer, Aquiles Zonio.
“That’s what I believe in business with morality. Self-fulfillment and helping others are more important to me than money,” Pacquiao said.
Matthysse, who defends his WBA welterweight championship against Pacquiao, plans to fly to Kuala Lumpur two weeks before the fight.
“The fight will proceed as scheduled. I am training hard for the fight and I never allow any distraction to destroy my focus,” said Pacquiao.
