Pacquiao: “Roach Never Left The Team”

Even with a very public split following his 2017 loss to Joe Horn, Manny Pacquiao insists that Freddie Roach never left his team.

Roach was sidelined by Pacquiao for the fighter’s July return to the ring against Lucas Matthysse, where Pacquiao would drop the Argentinian for the WBA “regular” welterweight title, with Buboy Fernadnez taking the reigns for that camp.

Now, Pacquiao has reunited with Roach for his January 19th fight against Adrien Broner in Las Vegas.

“I tell people even in America that Freddie never left Team Pacquiao,” Pacquiao told reporters. “He is still involved in the training.”

“I am already excited. (After) more than two years I am coming back to Vegas to fight,” said Pacquiao after two years of fighting outside of the United States.

Many feel the Broner fight is a warm-up for a rematch against Floyd Mayweather, who challenged Pacquiao to a rematch earlier this year at a Tokyo music festival.

On Tuesday, Pacquiao sidestepped the rumor of a rematch claiming: “I can fight anybody. We are not picky when it comes to our opponents.”
