Parker Cancelling Out The Noise Heading Into Cardiff
With less than two weeks from the biggest fight of his career, Joseph Parker is looking to block out the noise, and focus on the fight.
As the boxing media, and his opponent’s promoter, Eddie Hearn keep the conversation going of a potential fight between Anthony Joshua and WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, Parker told Boxing Scene that looking past him may be dangerous.
“I think it seems like they are overlooking me but they must be confident in what they can do. They probably don’t know what we are going to come in and do in the fight. I think if I stay focused on what we have to do and stay healthy and fit, I don’t have worry about opinions of other people,” he explained.
Parker feels that the lack of trash talk from Joshua directly, means that his opponent knows that he’s in for a long night on March 31st.
“I think he is just focused. He is just putting his head down and focusing on what he has to do. People are saying he has already dropped some weight so it seems like he is putting in the work and doing the best he can to prepare for the 31st of March,” Parker told BoxingScene.com.
Parker isn’t slacking on his end either, as the WBO world heavyweight champion is the lightest he’s ever been walking into Principality stadium.
“I think that maybe being lighter works for him. He has been a bit heavy the last few fights. Whatever he does is up to him but I know that I am going to come in light and come in fast and show a lot more than what I did the last two fights,” said Parker
