Parker: My Chin Can Take Whyte’s Power
Joseph Parker doesn’t expect to see scorecards on July 28th, when he faces Dillian Whyte at the O2 Arena in London.
Parker believes that he will join Anthony Joshua as the only men to stop Whyte, and feels like the answer lies in his chin.
“I think so. I think one punch to the chin – not my chin – will end in a nice result in the UK,” claimed the former WBO world champion.
Parker is looking to bounce back from losing his title to Joshua back in March, where he would take Joshua the distance and lose via unanimous decision.
“I back my chin but boxing is a funny game where one punch at the right time no matter how good your chin is or how strong you are can change everything. But saying that, I still back myself,” Parker told BoxingScene.com.
Whyte fell to Joshua in the seventh round of their 2015 fight, and Parker theorized a few ways the current WBC silver heavyweight champion dropped the fight to Joshua.
“Maybe it was his chin or defense or he wasn’t cautious enough. There are a few different aspects you can look at but we can use all of that to implement in our game plan,” said Parker.
