Penn’s Ex-Partner Files Restraining Order

B.J. Penn’s return at UFC 237 may be in jeopardy, as the UFC Hall of Famer’s estranged partner filed for a restraining order and an order of protection back in October.

Shealen Uaiwa, who was with Penn for ten years had a hearing in February to extend the protective order until October 2021.

First reported by MMAJunkie, Uaiwa alleged that Penn committed verbal abuse and menacing behavior with their two children and her mother in the room, threatened to kill her family, as well as potential sexual abuse.

Uaiwa wrote in the filing that she was frightened to report Penn to the police due to his reputation and “the control he has had” over her life.

“I feel fearful for my safety and my children’s (sic) life, and for the influence he has over my children,” she wrote.

Penn’s lawyer, John Schmidtke Jr., called the records “incomplete information” and was confused why they released the court documents.

The 40-year old fighter was originally required to stay 100 feet from Uaiwa and could not contact her when the order was initially ordered in October following Penn threatening Uaiwa and her mother when she went to pick up their children.Penn, she wrote, “came up to the car threatening my mother that he will kick her dumb (expletive) ass out of her house, he was harassing (sic) me and my mother with verbal abuse, calling us (expletive), manipulators, stealers. I was trying to get out of the driveway and he was making it hard like he wanted to attack me and my mom through the window. My children witnessed this incident.”

During the altercation, she said Penn told her, “because your (sic) not a man you think you can’t get knocked the (expletive) out.” On top of that, Uaiwa claimed that Penn threatened to murder her brother and her family while looking to wrestle her down and steal her phone.

The situation is so dire that Uaiwa claims their 11-year old daughter said that she would  “rather jump off our balcony at our home than hang out with her father.”

Uaiwa claims that Penn has been a drug addict for over have his life, alleging he uses his training camps as a way to stay sober.

“I woke up one night to him scared because he got cocaine on my oldest daughter,” Uaiwa wrote. “He was freaking out and he wanted to commit suicide.”

“Him and his friends did cocaine in the bathroom all night, while me and my children were in the room and his niece and aunty were in the living room,” she wrote.

This is not the first time Penn has been alleged of abusing cocaine, Pedro Carrasco, a former employee of BJPenn.com, claimed Penn had severe cocaine issues at the time where Carrasco’s girlfriend accused Penn of sexual assault.

Penn denied the allegations, claiming he was being extorted, and the charges would never be formally filed by the police following an investigation.
