Ray Beltran’s Manager Runs Down Flanagan
Discussions for WBO lightweight champion Terry Flanagan unifying versus WBA belt-holder Jorge Linares in the first quarter of 2018 are underway, and have left the manager of Ray Beltran the number one contender in the WBO, a little agitated.
Steve Feder, when asked about Flanagan was quoted to say that…
(Flanagan) wins the vacant because (Jose) Zepeda dislocates his shoulder in the second round. From that point on he fights defenses again literally no one. He beats a (Diego) Magdaleno who has zero power. He fights (Petr) Petrov, probably his only somewhat legit defense, and that’s against a guy with once again no power, and three-and-a-half inch height advantage.”
“So I ask, who the hell has Terry Flanagan beat? He’s mouthing off like he’s some amazing fighter, deserves the big fights, hey pal no one, and I mean no one know who you are. He suddenly wants to be a tough guy and call out Jorge, well sure why not, after that last performance against Luke (Campbell) suddenly he wants in. Then he talk about Beltran like he’s an old man. Well, here’s the wake up call ‘Turbo’, Ray Beltran is the WBO mandatory. He’s the number one lightweight contender in the world. He got there by fighting real guys on big stages.”
In his most recent fight in August, Beltran defeated Bryan Vasquez, and Feder feels his client is more than ready and deserving for a shot at the title.
“So, if you think Beltran is just some old man that no one will respect you for beating, you should call up Ricky Burns. Ricky is the real deal. He and the Scottish fans might give you some tips on the old man. I just love how these guys come wining about what they deserve. You had a bunch of free money, s*** defenses, and suddenly you’re among the elite.”
“You want to prove you’re not about the money, which you’ve stated, and only about the belts, then put your WBO belt up and fight Raymundo Beltran, you know, the guys the WBO ranked who you’re supposed to fight, but are afraid to. Ray Beltran has something none of the guys you have fought have, monster punching power. He’s the biggest 135 pounder you will ever see and come fight night, when he lands one on that jaw of yours, you might just learn to respect your elders.
“The phone is ringing ‘Turbo’. Have your boy Frank Warren, give Bob Arum a call. Come fight the old man from Los Mochos Mexico and the United States.”
