Referee Names For Parker-Whyte

After Joseph Parker and his team demanded a fair official for his fight against Dillian Whyte on July 28th, British referee Ian John-Lewis has been tasked with being the third man in the ring.

Parker’s team’s concerns stemmed from the officiating of Giuseppe Quartarone during Parker’s unanimous decision loss to Anthony Joshua in March at Principality Stadium.

Lewis, who refereed the Adonis Stevenson and Badou Jack draw and Whyte’s crushing victory over Lucas Browne, hopefully is welcomed to Parker’s trainer Kevin Barry.

Barry, who was Quartarone’s harshest critics in the aftermath of Parker-Joshua, told Sky sports recently that, “we want one of the best referees that BBBofC can offer,” said Barry.

“I think we’ve been pretty hard done by in our first two previous fights here in the UK by the referee, so this time I would like to think they will give us a classy guy. Someone who won’t be an interference for the fight, someone who will let the fight go.

“I tell you what, there are plenty of good British referees. Let’s just choose one of them.”
