Roach To Coach On Contender Reboot

As announced earlier this year, the boxing based competition reality show, The Contender is returning to television on the EPIX cable network.

Per a report from ESPN’s Dan Rafael, the rebooted series has found its coaches in well known trainers, Freddie Roach and Naazim Richardson.

Producers for the series are still  casting the show, they have already locked in Roach, but are finalizing a deal with Richardson to lead the other team.

Richardson, the longtime trainer of Bernard Hopkins, as well as a former trainer for Shane Mosley would join Roach who is known for training stars such as Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao.

There is yet to be a host for the series as it draws closer to the fighter auditions on April 13th, where the field will be set at 16 contestants.
